Triathlon
Just emailing to say that my triathlon went really well on Sunday! I knocked 12 minutes of my expected time so I was very pleased (as you can imagine). All of your tips about nutrition really helped and I didn't have any pangs of hunger or low blood sugar at all. Thank you for all of your great advice, I am going back home next week so I am looking forwards to doing lots of winter training to improve on my time next season.
See you at Christmas!

Following on from the series of one-on-one coached swim sessions, I am happy to report improvements in my swim times. I have really seen the benefits of the personal attention paid to my stroke technique at the sessions. Swimming endless lengths and doing drills can be a bit frustrating when there appears to be little improvement. Having a qualified, highly experienced coach watching and following on the pool side was excellent in terms of identifying aspects of technique that were hindering progress, and in providing specific drills to correct these faults. Progress was objectively assessed with a combined measure of swim times and stroke count; the aim being to improve swim times whilst reducing stroke count - more energy left for the remainder of the race. My swim technique is by no means perfect yet, but I am able to swim greater distances maintaining a faster speed, which is excellent news as I head into the busiest part of Ironman training for the season.

Thanks very much for the recent swim sessions; it was really useful to get some individual coaching. I'm now using the drills you gave me to 'fix' my stroke at the start of every swim session. As you suggested, I've been concentrating on reducing my stroke count and my freestyle seems to have an added dimension now that I've found some power at the back of the stroke and stopped putting the brakes on at the front! My times are continuing to improve. I think it'll make even more difference in open water, so I'm looking forward to reporting much better swim splits this season. Just got back from cycling in Italy, but see you at track if my legs are up to it!

The organised training sessions are excellent and this has been a contributing factor in firing my enthusiasm for triathlon over the last three years. One of the best swim sessions we had recently
was when you walked up and down next to us*
and gave us personal advice on ways we could improve.

* I was actually walking poolside - I'm not that good yet but working on it!
Running
I have really benefited from your track sessions with my 10K PB (of 15 years) being broken twice this winter.

The coached running sessions I have attended
have been excellent.
The advice is first class!
